The ninth edition kicks off, taking place in Capranica, in the Tuscia area of Viterbo
The new edition of the International Film Residency kicks off on November 25, featuring a crew of young professionals from Italy and several Latin American countries. From Colombia comes set designer Maria Luisa Gómez Hoyos, joined by Costa Rican colleague Valeria Azofeifa Rodríguez; Chile is represented by editor Pablo Andrés Carrasco Canales, while Argentina sends assistant director Lucia Benavente and camera operator María Cecilia Acuña. Ecuador is represented by sound technician Marcos Alejandro Yglesias Ravelo, Venezuela by sound engineer Esteban Lema, and the Dominican Republic by production assistant Dominique Gabrielle Muniz Gomez. From Italy come costume designer Caterina Cingolani, camera operator Matteo Maiore, and director Mounir Derbal; from Mexico, director of photography Isay Peña Cruz, and from Brazil, documentary filmmaker Gabriela de Oliveira Poester Nunes.
Joining the crew in recent days were screenwriters Michela Panichi and Francesca Fallocco, selected with their screenplay Chiamata in attesa, developed during their studies at the Fondazione Fare Cinema – Scuola di cinema in Bobbio, under the supervision of Valia Santella and Bruno Oliviero.
This year’s program, in addition to the participation of professors and producers acting as tutors, features the valuable collaboration of Jorge Igual, professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València, who will lead students in a nighttime photography session; Andrew Mottl, sound engineer for film sound, sound design, and music, who is working with participants on the script’s sonic dimension; and Katrin Richthofer, who explores the impact of new technologies—including artificial intelligence—on film production processes. Italian contributors include renowned screenwriter Valia Santella, who every year oversees the development of the selected script, and award-winning cinematographer Luca Bigazzi, who will serve as mentor during the shooting days.
The event will take place in Capranica from November 25 to December 9, in synergy with the local area and the entire community, thanks to the patronage and collaboration of the Municipality of Capranica, which hosts the initiative.

The Last Day of the Bear in official selection at Bogoshorts – Bogotá Short Film Festival
The short film L’Ultimo Giorno dell’Orso, created during the 7th edition of Castello Errante, continues its expanding journey and reaches another important milestone: its selection at Bogoshorts – Bogotá Short Film Festival, one of the most prestigious international festivals dedicated to short films, recognized by both the Oscars and the Goya Awards.
After traveling across Europe, Latin America, and Asia—passing through Hamburg, Ischia, Sarajevo, Quito, Warsaw, and many other destinations—the film, directed by Antonio Donato, now arrives in a setting that highlights the short film format and fosters dialogue among emerging film industries.
This selection represents yet another acknowledgment of the project, confirming the strength of the residency’s educational and production model and the ability of the works created within it to find a place in increasingly broad international contexts.
