APPLICATIONS FOR 2025 ARE NOW CLOSED: ALMOST 200 SUBMISSIONS FROM ITALY AND 17 LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES
The call for the ninth edition of Castello Errante has officially closed, registering a great level of participation: we received just under 200 applications from all over Italy and 17 Latin American countries.
Directors, screenwriters, cinematographers, editors, sound designers, and other film professionals reached out to share their projects, dreams, and creative visions. We were deeply impressed by the quality and variety of the submissions, which confirm the growing interest in the project beyond national borders.
This call was aimed at selecting a screenplay and an international crew that will participate in the next edition of the residency and produce a short film in the Tuscia area, in the Lazio region.
The evaluation process has now begun: the committee will carefully and rigorously review each application.
At the end of August, a further selection phase will involve personal interviews between some committee members and the first group of semi-finalists. In early September, through the next newsletter, we will officially announce the final selection of participants for the new edition, along with the location that will host this year’s residency.
In the coming weeks, additional calls may be launched for specific roles or for actors and actresses, depending on the needs of the selected script.
OUT NOW: THE ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK OF
THE LAST DAY OF THE BEAR,
COMPOSED BY PAOLO CASALI
The soundtrack of the short film produced during the 7th edition of the project is now out: a sensitive and delicate work that captures all the emotional nuances of Dennis, a 12-year-old boy with an introspective and restless spirit, who is about to leave the community where he grew up to meet his new guardians.
The music, composed by Paolo Casali, blends the warm, organic tone of the accordion with the nostalgic notes of the guitar, accompanying Dennis’s experience of melancholy, loss, and the looming sense of emptiness.
The soundtrack, designed to amplify the film’s visual and emotional experience, is published by BNC Music, with mix and mastering by Carlo Purpura.
The short film, directed by Antonio Donato, has already been selected for the Junges Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg Mo&Friese, the Hamburg Film Festival, and the Ischia Film Festival, and will also participate in the Omladinski Film Festival in Sarajevo and the 11th edition of Minikino Film Week – Bali International Short Film Festival in Indonesia.
